Profile

The Plough Scalby

The Plough Hotel, which has been at the heart of Scalby village since 1899, is currently undergoing an exciting, major refurbishment. Owned by Scalby residents, Nick and Sandra Thomas, who also own the award-winning The Copper Horse and hugely-popular The Mayfield in Seamer, The Plough will reopen in Spring 2015.

The Plough will provide Scarborough with a vibrant, family-friendly country pub and the focal point for the local community, and will serve a selection of traditional hand-pulled cask ales together with a range of quality wines.

Open all day the menu will include a range of locally-sourced, home-cooked gastro-pub fayre, including tapas-style plates, classic Yorkshire dishes such as tasty pies, steaks, fish and chips and unmissable Sunday roast lunches, complete with all the trimmings! There's also a range of tempting lighter lunch options including soups, sandwiches, and terrific sharing plates.

Our menu will be created under the guidance of our Creative Consultant, James Mackenzie, chef proprietor of the awarded winning Pipe and Glass Inn, South Dalton.

Continuing its heritage as a hotel, The Plough will also include seven brand-new en-suite bedrooms, all individually designed for maximum comfort using traditional and contemporary styles, offering a unique setting from which to explore the beautiful area of North Yorkshire.
